Upcoming migration (web/db) [27/10/2017]

Now that our hoster has opened a new DC location in Germany, the time has come again to move everything over.

With the new location, we get a better CPU (1 Ghz / core more than currently), as well as better connection to/from the gameserver machines (instead of 10ms ping, soon we will only get 2-2.6).
Additionally, since this a new location, all now ordered servers come with a reduced pricetag.

Thanks to our VM-based setup, the move should run through without any major hiccups(tm).

The plan

• Demos (demos.f-o-g.eu) will be moved over on Thursday, October 26 starting from 9:30PM.
  This VM will be moved seperately, as it is quite large (250+ GB) and it would otherwise take half a day to move everything over.
  Estimated end should be around midnight, all depending on how fast the connection between the two machines is (if it's crawling around with 250Mbit/s like last time, it may take longer).
• All web content and databases will then follow on Friday, October 27 starting from 12:30AM.
  Here, the amount of data is a bit smaller (~170 GB), however, the end time again depends on the network connection speed.

As always, everything which depends on a database or website will be offline.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Timer backend
- SourceBans
- Logging
etc..

This thread will be updated once the maintenance is complete.

 

Web and DB stuff all moved over successfully, demo transfer will be postponed, since creating the image alone takes 8 hours.

 

All demos have been moved over as well!
