    Hi there!

    Heres a little something that i've been working on. I present to you, Surf_Skyborn.

    Unfortunately, the whole surf_fog project had to be delayed, as the original file was corrupted when i lost my laptop.
    The backup file was ruined & unsaveable, and the old saves i had was just a huge set back in the progress, so i lost the interrest in continueing working on it.

    But! I always wanted to make a map for f-o-g, and since the ze_fog is a long work in progress, i wanted to make something quick, but special.

    Therefor, let's start with some pictures!

    Stage or Linear?: Stage map.
    How many stages?: 4
    Tier?: 1-2
    How long to finish?: Approx. 1-2 minutes, with no mistakes.

    Will you add more?: Yes, i will be adding a secret part in the map containing credits for people i feel, has been very helpful towards this project.
    I might be adding a bonus stage, but we'll see.

    The whole map is in whole finished. What i need now, is testing. Alot of testing.
    I've asked n0:name to let me use the donation server for this. Without locking it, so everyone can join in and try it out.
    Currently, i have tested it myself, just to check if it was finishable. But i need to check a few things before releasing it completely.
    Stuff like: bhop & stage jumping.

    (i think those were the questions you asked on the old FoG-map)

    I think n0 will set up a test server for the map where you can join with a PW. I think thats a rather better idea since there you can be on the map as long as you want unlike on 1-6 where other people are and who may not be interested in testing. You can just tell those who you want for testing the pw and ip for the testserver.

    Not sure if hes planning to do that though. But if so, then yes, i should probably do as in the old thread and take applicants :D

    Bump. Looks like i actually got a test server, so big thanks to n0:name!

    - Ramps. Some ramps are stopping people at random spots. They need to be smoothed out a little bit.
    - Invinsible Walls. Should you be able to see some of them at stage 3?

    Yeah this was with telehops though, not sure if you wanna keep those? I tested your map for about an hour last night, gonna give some more detailed feedback later on.

    Thank you for giving it a run.
    The teleports was meant to be there, but they need to be moved/changed, as they stop people who flies into them with too much speed, and some of them just gives you a ridiculous jump. Not sure if this was what you meant though? :p

    Other than that, I've found a lot of ramps that stops people at random spots, because i haven't smoothed them out enough.

    You should extend the area where you can fly around on s3 and s4. If entered with high speed you just crash into the invisible walls and get all unhappy and stuff (Will add more the more i play. Currently on WR hunt)

    I got an idea:
    Make teleports between stages like on surf_mesa_aether. So the teleport exit in midair and when you fail you are on the intended platform.

    Can you explain more, or show an example? I'm not sure as i didn't have time to check the map out myself yesterday because of work.

    Was supposed to release a new version last night, but i had like 2 hours from comming home, before going to bed, and then wake up & go to work again.
    I hope i can release it tonight.

    I can not make a proper screenshot thanks to n0name and his new RTV system so sorry for this:

    The player (here indicated with the color orange) flies into the portal (indicated as purple) on stage 1.
    Then with all his might and speed he flies through the second drawn portal on stage 2 and has the option to finish this in one go.
    If the player happens to fail on stage 2, he gets respawned on the beginningplatform on the stage.

    The teleports/spawns at all the stages are already placed up in the air, almost exactly as you described, for this kind of thing :p The map was made for this type of surfing, where you can surf without stopping. But the teleports from stage 2 stage, just needs to be fixed a little bit, as they stop you when you enter with too much speed (Look at the to-do list).

    Now that i surfed the map for about an hour i think i can give some feedback. Overall i really liked the map, but i noticed two things that are a bit annoying.
    1. The Telehops between stages feel a bit weird especially for s3 and s4 cause you can't really save time with the telehop.
    2. Sometimes the map is a little bit too bright for me. Maybe dont use white rails cause they blind you sometimes.

    Hey, thanks for testing.
    I agree, the glowing/light hitting the ramps/map in general is just too bright. Hm, i might have to change some sun settings today as well. I'll add that to the list in a minute

    Oh the rings at the ending are kinda hard to see and the bhop part should be made easier. as of now you need aproximately 1k speed which some people dont have

    Added both to the list. I did think about the bhop platforms to be changed, but you are right about the rings not being very easy to spot.

    New map update! (A little late on the info, sorry!)

    Hi, this is the 2nd upload that is currently available.
    You can test it on the test server.


    I've tried to listen to as many of you i could, and worked out on a few things.

    1) Stage 1 - Added some difficulty.

    It was brought to my attention, that you could just jump from the 2nd ramp, directly to the end of the stage.
    I added 2 pillars, hopefully blocking that shortcut, and made it at least a little more difficult to play.
    Also moved the end platform a little bit.


    2) General - Teleport blocking problems.

    If you had too much speed at times, you would be stopped by the teleports. The reason is that the 'trigger' zone, placed in front of the teleports, where too thin, so it reacted as if you hit a wall. So, i made the teleport trigger zone bigger, making it impossible for them to block you because of the speed. You can now stage jump without any problems.

    I did the same on some of the other teleports as well

    3) Stage 3 - Invisible Walls.

    Currently not sure how I wanna tackle these. I made them visible for now, until i figure out some sort of design for them.


    4) Stage 3 - Final 3 ramps removed.

    Added 1 long ramp instead. A little thin long ramp, making it a little difficult if you can't keep your hand still. Also moved the ending platform a bit back.



    5) General - Design on ramps and stuff.

    Added a few changes on the textures on ramps around the map. Also added some path lights in darkroom in stage 4.



    6) Stage 4 - Rings.

    Made the rings more visible. Added some color to them.


    7) Stage 4 - Bhop.

    Made it easier to bhop to the end, but still with a little space between so you can fall down if you fail.




    Other:

    ~ Changed the sun brightness.
    ~ Moved a few teleport spawns here and there.
    ~ Made a few texture changes in general.
    ~ Fixed a few ramp bugs (there are still more..).


    Also updated post 4 on page 1, and added a new WR.
    Updated the To-do/fix list.

    Had to make a new version because @Chewyy@Chewyy found an important shortcut at stage 3, that had to be fixed.
    New WR added to history in post 4 - page 1.

    I have sent the new version to n0:name, just waiting for him to add it.
