You don't like my Doge of Venice? Fine, noted. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate your feedback, Bobby Hill.

Still. I'm not going to watch anime, even though it's tempting. I'm afraid of the same thing that's gonna happen to me when my friends showed me to tumblr. I don't want to get addicted, welp.

You choose wether you get "addicted" or not.
Sounds like you're just looking for an excuse.

You should be ashamed of not spelling Elfen Lied right.

I didn't choose to get addicted to pepsi MAX, I can't choose some things but some things I can, like being addicted to food, I can follow you there. But not necessary on the "you can choose"-part. n-n

Who can make a smoker stop but the smoker himself?

I think you get the main idea.

You can't *choose* to get addicted, it either happens or not. It's not like you go watch a show and suddenly decide 'Yep, I want to be addicted. I'm going to be addicted riiiiiight NOW!'

also smoker is the worst example ever, you don't just go 'kay, I'm not addicted anymore' it takes months or years to quit, a lot of power of will and nicotine patches ( some people manage without them )

And regarding smoking. I smoked for 6-7 years and decided to quit. It stopped right there.

True. My mother has been a smoker in many years, and is trying to quit smoking. It's hard, I can tell. So I don't believe in the smoker example either.

DB(Z), YuGiOh (all seasons, although Zexal was meh), Transformers, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Avatar + Legend of Korra.

And I guess I could add Huntik too, I liked it for some reason.

Not going to say you're wrong, because you aren't.
But remember the scenario at hand: Someone is telling you he's not going to "get addicted" and thus stays away from whatever it is (In this case, japanese cartoons)
Like you said, it's something that just happens, not something you predict to happen.
If you have the mental will to stay away from something like smoking, I find it hard to believe they'd be 'addicted' to it.

But my statement still stands: Only the smoker himself can bring himself to dedicate his efforts to quit smoking.
