    Hey guys,

So basically, me, @advicebanana@advicebanana, @Chride2k8 |LZ|@Chride2k8 |LZ| and @MilkGames@MilkGames are all part of this group that reports phishing links so that they can get blocked on the Steam Link Filter. If you are unaware of the Steam Link Filter is or what it looks like, here's an example:

As SR no longer tags for phishing, I was thinking that there could be a sub-forum in one of the report forums so we could get them on the link filter ASAP.
Example of a typical report (black box = malicious link, source link or community id):

    Thanks for reading,

Creating a group for these links would undoubtedly be a bad idea. Why?

If it goes viral, many new people will just click these links for shits and giggles. Or, some English oblivious young guy will randomly click links, see "free steam tf2 csgo item skin" and think he'll actually get items. Just for the sake of the ignorance / stupidity of the lower end of Steam users, that would be a bad idea.

I wouldn't mind a sub-reporting thread somewhere that's given to someone over at Valve. However, I don't know who will take threads like that in consideration (Erik, robin?). However, I think all phisher links should be reserved to only be shown to admins, or at least members of the forums, to avoid unnecessary scams appearing via our forums.

Maybe have some form of moderators that can edit posts with BBCode?

    Yeah, that'd be fine.

I just noticed, isn't there already something like this? A collective thread where people post phishing links and they get put on the filter list?

I haven't seen one on our forums, but my knowledge may deceive me. But that's the basically how it works on that group. A list of selected reporters puts phishing links in the thread using a similar format to above, and they get blocked by Steam Mods in due course.

How many of these links are viewable by regular members and / or visitors? The idea behind a phishing filter is to prevent as many people from being exposed to them, after all.

Only members of the group can see the unblocked links. Once the links are blocked, no-one can see them. The only reason that link on the 2nd screenshot is covered up is because that link uses an ending (.be) that isn't automatically parsed into a link (and we are required to put the non http link there to see if it parses or not).

What reason would there be to make such a forum here instead of keeping it to that group?
It's not like any Valve employee looks here ever.

Because the group handles the links faster than the standard "Report Violation" button on profiles, and many people don't know about how/where to report them to the group. If anything, it may improve forum activity.

Well, I don't really see any use on that for posting here.
We already got quite a post farm with the normal scam reports.
