Rejected Skrillmau5 breaking rules.

Description:
Earlier today, I was playing Jailbreak as usual.
A round had already begun by the time I joined the server.
So I waited and spectated for a bit.
Later an odd event occured, Shotgun_With_Pootis :3 rebelled, which is normal in Jailbreak.
However, the person that got attacked used a Deadringer.
That person, as seen by the pictures I provide at the end of this report, is CircusCamp.jpg. Also known as Skrillmau5.
The rules of Jailbreak clearly state the following;
Baiting:
You bait if you:
- Cloak/Disguise as a spy
Deadringing is a form of cloaking for sure, and I've seen many people get teambanned because of it.
As an admin of Jailbreak, you should know these rules and stand by them.
Skrillmau5 even commented on the act by calling it a form of ''self-defense''.
This is not an excuse and does not give you the right to break the rules.
He also disguised multiple times throughout the round before ultimately disconnecting.
As I stated before, screenshots are provided at the end.
I'll be happy to anwser questions or provide witnesses to comment if necessary.

It might've said "Don't bait" but either way, it's not really abuse.
Abusing is when you use the powers you have wrong, but i don't think it's bannable, it's more like
you're allowed to kill that person if they use the Deadringer.

But i didn't witness it, so i don't know exactly what happened.

 

Having a deadringer at your disposal and using it continuously normally results in a guardban.
I don't see why Skrillmau5 shouldn't get this treatment if others do.

If it wasn't bannable, it shouldn't be a rule.

 

If it' baiting, you should pretty much guardban every single pyro airblasting, Heavy spinning up minigun, Scouts and
snipers throwing Jarate and Mad milk or get into a players melee range. And there's a lot of them and we've both
witnessed them together.

 

Seems like a 120 min guardban to me.

Spinning your minigun is not baiting.
Slaying people as a warning is usually enough to make them follow the rules.
An admin of FoG should know Deadringing is not allowed.

 

Wouldn't it be just easier to disable the use of the dead ringer on jailbreak altogether?

I don't think this is worth making a huge fuss over either.

Maybe he didn't follow the rules, but we've all had a moment where we walked outside the boundaries of them. The same way you warn people to not do something, don't start a witch hunt about something so trivial.

I bet there's a lot of spies that carry the dead ringer unnoticed for the record.

 

I see using the deadringer as defense: there is a difference between defense, and bait. If I were baiting with it, I would taunt them with it, cloak and uncloak in front of them. What I tend to do is that if I am in a dangerous situation, I pull out my deadringer use it to then "die" and uncloak in an area away from them. That's the same with airblast. You can still use it as defense, to push away rebels, but once you use it to irritate or bother the prisoners, it becomes bait.

 

The moment you cloak, your action is specified as baiting. Simple as that.
The rules don't state anything about which approach is baiting.
As a guard you get guns and crits to defend yourself, which is more than enough to defend yourself.
I would have just guardbanned you, but I cannot target fellow admins.

 

As a spy, you have 125 health, your knife does little damage(only on backstab does it do a good amount), and your guns do only 144 damage at most. You can easily be killed by one stray crit-swing from a melee, so I bring the deadringer with me.

 

And deadringing is cloaking.
And cloaking is baiting.
And baiting is against the rules.

Please stop using the deadringer at jailbreak.

 

I'm not really sure how this works.

I can understand the purpose of using the dead ringer defensively but to say that it's constant baiting? That's debatable.

 

The more I read threads about nitpicking gushing out from Jailbreak I cannot possibly see how the server is still up. Although I have never been. Might be why.
Also, Skrilly don't be naughty, christmas is coming up. Santa's got your name on a list somewhere.

 

I have seen numerous people gbanned/slayed because of use of the Dead Ringer. These bans have come from experienced JB admins, for example @Spartan.

 

In my eyes this can be easily solved by not playing spy on jailbreak.

 

Using dead ringer is baiting, you are cloaking. If they rebel and attack you, you shoot them you do not cloak. If you did not want to bait but wanted to live through crits, play heavy soldier or demo.
The only time when baiting does not count is a warday and so it is good to still have it on the server as it is an all out war.

Just remove the wep or play another class skrill, you all talk like skrill freekilled the whole team

 

The rules only state that cloaking is qualified as baiting.
So right now, there is no debate to be had.
Dead Ringer has always been a no-no in jb since the beginning of time.
The cloaking itself is baiting.

Please refrain from posting in this thread if you have nothing valuable to contribute.

 

But the dead ringer cloaks only once you actually get hit. This is why I'm questioning whether it really is a constant bait or not...


...but I think that "not playing spy" is the incorrect answer. You should have a freedom of picking whatever class you desire.
