I'm an actively surfer having spent a lot of time surfing in my past, mostly remained on the same servers (those 2-3 on my favorite list). My #1 being Recess.no #12 Surf [ Tier 1-2 | Timer | 100 Tick ] where I'm ranked as #14 overall, having spent 5 days ingame (according to their archive; https://recess.gameme.com/players/csgo9 ). I think it's a bit more tho, but I trust their numbers. I write this just trying to make you understand I'm not a person just joining a server to troll people than to leave later on. I had recently come across your server when the incident happened (Surf Beginner [Tier 1-2 | Timer | Ranks] :: F-o-G.eu). Reason being I didn't like the map my favorites where playing, and I also didn't bother playing a competitive game. Sadly I didn't read your policies before surfing along having a good time. I where only there to surf well, improve myself and help others in need (as I also enjoy doing). "What harm could I ever do?". Suddenly I had another favorite server on list, yours. A couple of entries later, the ban came along. I where even halping a couple of people completed some stages prior to the ban. This is how it happened ... Chat: (As I remember, no big lies implied) Someone asked: "Is there any admin here?" I wrote: "ADMIN: Yes, how can I help you?" When I wrote it like that, I seemed trustworthy (I had no experience doing it)He wrote: "Are you an admin?" I wrote: "I can be if you want. How may I help you?" ... I believe someone saw me through, being I didn't have the title in front of my name. I also admit thinking the person who wrote also did notice that. I was about to reveal that I in fact where no admin, just a person wanting to help him out. Thought maybe he had some surf-related question, as I've mentioned I like to help people out if there's something they can't manage to do. It all happened so fast, when suddenly Ravaid showed up (one of your admins). I can't believe the joke even lasted for 1 minute before he wrote something like "It's now allowed to pretend being an admin" and I got permanently banned from the server, not even given a warning or the chance to defend myself. I wouldn't appeal without getting access to your server again really ment something to me. I think there was an excellent server where I had great ping, could use mic to interact with other players using my experience to help someone or just have a great conversation with someone, and afterall it's a bit more consistantly populated than the once I'm used to surf on. In my opinion, he hadn't bad intentions and the ban was maybe too quick in first place. I'm for a second chance (and you shouldn't do this anymore).
Looks like you got the server mixed up with a different community at the start of your appeal. I also agree that a permaban is ridiculous for an offence this small. A warning or temporary ban would've been enough.
Before making a statement id like to hear @Ravaid input. (seems like i am too dumb for a tag.) Also your version seemed a bit in favour of you. This is what you actually said: Wich in my eyes does look a bit like you wanted to pretend that you are admin. But no worries i am compleatly neutral right now. Just listing facts.
I feel that what you said and what the chatlog says are extremely different. The way you said it ingame in comparison to your post gives a much more impersonation feel to it. Which is obviously against the rules, whether you were just trying to help or not. I however completely agree with both ElToredo and Starfish, this 100% doesn't warrant a permanent, at all. You can tell by his chatlog that he is a friendly guy, who wasn't trying to be malicious, and was just trying to help some people complete the map. A simple: "Hey VeroN, just letting you know, admin impersonation in any way is against the rules", or at worst, a temporary ban would have sufficed in this situation.
So starting with the rules: - Impersonating any FoG admin (either by wearing the tag or impersonating an admin directly) is permaban. but i can understand that you wanted to make a fun moment or something, also there were other people pretending to be an admin, but no one wrote anything with a tag in the chat. I appreciate you trying to help people on the server, but do that in a normal way. I think you can have a second chance based on the fact that you have a lot of hours in the server and you seems to help people sometimes.
Thank you for the quick and honest replies, all of you! I agree that I in fact broke a rule of yours, and I like to see admins able to see "between the lines" of this situation. It was just me fooling around for a secound without thinking about the consequence of my act. I'm honestly ashamed letting myself into this.
