So I've been experiencing *title* for like a month now. It doesnt happen too often, but its quite annoying when it does, and when it does, it does for quite a long time, thats what makes it annoying. I've only seen it on the FoG servers so far, I didn't meet with this on other servers but that also might be 'cause I play on FoG primarily. Anyway, the lag basically looks like this: I'm playing (for ex) on Jailbreak, listening to warden and the chat n stuff, no problems. Suddenly, the warden's voice is cut. He didn't finish his sentence. After that, the chat also becomes silent. No players but not even the plugin is notifying me about anything on the chat. Also I see killing but see nothing on the killfeed. Looking at enemies, can't see their name (For anyone who doesn't know this, you can also see the names of your enemies thanks to the plugin). Can't even hear voice commands. Everything is silent but I can clearly see players running around. It goes like this for ~ >8 seconds, which is a bit terrifying, but then, warden and all the voicechatters go FUIECEPKQWEIOFHVNVUIOWEHFHN and the chat & killfeed be spammin hard for a second. Dahell was that, I ask. Yeah, completely new stuff for me, it happens on other servers aswell sometimes. Googled it, found nothing. Checked connection, steam settings, tf2, everything, but I see nothing that might have changed. I just wanna ask if anything like this also happens to you guys, and what could be the problem.. That's all.
That happened to me all the time, so I can tell you that it's not exclusive on FoG. As far as fixing it goes, it stopped on it's own after a tf2 update, they may have broken it again. But even though I couldn't see the speech bubbles and the names of the people speaking, I could still hear them through my headset, so I don't know what's up with that.
Hmm interesting never came up with that issue before. But since Wand0lf says it happened to him also, i'll look into it later.
Valvo re-introduced that glitch it seems, used to happen to me. Should be fixed in a patch when valve releases one.
I have this happen on rare occasions. It's not too bothersome really since it goes back to normal later.
Packet loss wouldn't cause this behaviour, would it? Especially in a live game. It would much rather drop the packets than saturating you with them. Seems like it's choke, rather. Try using a net config. Chris and M0re both implemented those in their graphics configs AFAIK.
