I added John who had offered cash to someone on CSGO Lounge who owns a knife I also am offering.
He mentioned that he wouldn't trade without a middleman and suggested someone from Steamrep. He then brought a fake "Alias", a D2T middleman into a group chat session who is on the accused's friends list.
I voiced my concerns about him not being the real Alias and he finally brought in another middleman, Delfie whose profiles says that he is a member of the Skial middlemen group, which is a lie. Delfie's profile has been opened on Steamrep only one previous time when his nickname was "John | DK" which suggests that he might be an alt account.
Delfie sent me doctored screenshots showing a Paypal transaction of him receiving the agreed-upon price of $65.

They all seemed to be very in tune about Steamrep being an old site and sending money from John to the middleman and back, when I became skeptical of them and me "wasting time".
They brought in another Danish user who vouched for Delfie, saying that he helped him buy an AWP Asiimov FT for real money. I did not include his account ID, since he did not contribute a whole lot to the discussion.

I did not send my knife and I did not receive any money during this scam a ttempt, so I did not include screenshots of either histories.

 

I just noticed that the text on Delfie's profile is the same as the description on several other profiles who are either marked as scammers or trade-banned:
