Declined Replace FF2, bring back DR

Consider Removing FF2, bring back DR

Hello, I'd like to suggest we remove the FF2 server, I feel its not popular enough to keep alive (0 people since day 1 pretty much), I know it has been a short amount of time (10 days) but it isn't too different from VSH. However, I feel FF2 is more flawed and yet too similar to VSH and if we were to attempt to populate it, it could divide the FoG VSH community (this issue had been raised before and now I agree with it). Because of these things I feel the FF2 server should be taken down if popularity doesn't increase soon.
I suggest we bring back DeathRun as either a replacement or another server alongside. I used to obsess about that gamemode just like VSH. I have been told by Blue and Fahly about there used to be one and what happened. But, I still say we should add it back and here's a few reasons why:
+ Low maintenance

Because most DR maps kill people at spawn, AFKs aren't much of an issue. With AFK Manager and some staff this issue is obsolete. If the Death is AFK, players can still try to parkour the map a fair bit, maybe race other teammates to the finish for fun. The only other issues that could arise are issues just about every TF2 server has that the gamemode would not fix (porn sprays, comm abuse, etc.)​

+ Its a custom gamemode unlike others so its not like we'd be making another server too similar to another (which I feel like with VSH and FF2) so we can avoid a FoG server community divide which I feel would occur if we wanted to populate FF2
+ As I've said before, even if Death is AFK you can still have fun trying to race other teammates to the end

When it comes to flaws, I see people getting bored after dying because its Arena Mode. But, this issue is the same as VSH and FF2 so its not that horrendous to be honest. There is also the possibility of a Death saying "free run" just to get some kills off guard. When it comes to getting maps for the gamemode I'd be happy to get a large collection of maps, I am resourceful like this as Blue, Goldy, Fahly, n0 will know about my collection of VSH maps (I will be making a thread when testing is done for that by the way). I'd also like to suggest that a feature to let people to toggle being chosen for death be implemented if this server suggestion is implemented. Feel free to put down below what you think.

I'd like to make 1 last note: This server doesn't necessarily have to replace FF2, but if a server would need to go down in order to have DR up then I feel FF2 should be the one to be taken down.

 

As much as I love this idea myself (I was a deathrun regular) I think we should wait. The ff2 server has just gone up. Same goes for dodgeball. Give it some time.

 

As I said at the bottom, it doesn't necessarily have to replace FF2, I agree we should give the FF2 server some more time but I think it should be kept in mind its popularity and possibilities of taking it down. The poll only asks about bringing back Deathrun, I just thought bringing up state of FF2 at the same time might be helpful whilst on the subject of changing what servers we have.

 

As Solid Snake said, we should give it some time to see if it will catch popularity.

But if it gets to a situation where FF2 will be replaced I think MGE would be a better choice instead of deathrun since it doesn't really need players to be playable (with "playable" I mean in FF2 and deathrun you kinda need 5~+ players to get some actual gameplay of the gamemode while in MGE you just need one person to fight against) and just as you said about deathrun it has quite low maintenance necessary because if someone is afk you can just change arena to fight in (and there is plenty of different arena's to pick between).

 

I'm not familiar with MGE but I'd still like to see Deathrun as a running server nonetheless, who knows both servers could go up without having to pick one over another.

 

Well as spindel Said mge is a gamemode that you can practise fighting with other people,however I already suggested that to noname and he said that he might consider that as an option on 2 or 3 months.But I agree with your idea that ff2 is almost similar to vsh but I don't believe that the gamemode that should replace ff2(if it will be replaced) is Dr.My personal opinion is that mge should be that gamemode because I play it all the time and it would be wonderful if I could play on this community too.About the player activity on panda community(that uses the gameme page too) has around 6 player average the past 24 hours https://gameme.panda-community.com//tf23 to conclude with I personally prefer mge rather than Dr but there are tons of gamemodes that fog can try

 

As I said above aswell, who said we would have to pick one over another, its only a hypothetical should we not be able to have more than 1 new server up. If you want to see MGE be a server then make a post about it. See how it goes rather than base everything against a server because of the unknown possibility of picking 1 server gamemode over another. Its still possible to have a DR and MGE server up at the same time I'm pretty sure. This post is primarily asking about getting DR up, not removing or picking it over another. Its just something I felt could be brought up.
