It was not worth it.

I've decided to put this in the general viewing section instead of the admin forum, as this is something everyone should know.
This is something I've thought about for a very, very long time.
And it pains me to say that as of today I am resigning from my position as Senior Admin on Jailbreak.

When I first wanted to become admin at FoG, it wasn't because I wanted to.
It was because Jailbreak is my favorite server, it still to this day.
However I soon found out that Jailbreak takes a lot of care.
More care than most servers, with less rules, will ever need.

The only thing that made me want to do it were the players.
The players who are now largely friends of mine, very good friends might I add.
All the rest is just the usual banter about how Jailbreak is a shithole for premature kids, and that the server should be should down.
And to be honest, that's not even my problem.

My problem is that these past 5-6 months of moderating almost every day, never taking a single break until now, I never got anything back for it.
I've been sweating my ass off building a Jailbreak community the past year.
Creating a group with events for jailbreak regulars, suggesting ideas, etc.
Most of my fellow admins aren't capable of even going onto the server for an hour.
Most of them just don't show up for multiple days.
And that's where I draw a line.
Jailbreak needs a lot of care, care that other admins are not willing to give.
Not now, not ever.

I wish to be stripped of my admin rights on jailbreak ASAP.
tl;dr It was not worth it.

 

Aaand jailbreak is unplayable without admins, I'm curious what will happen from here.

Well, no point in changing your mind seeing as it's already made up, but I think it was worth it.
If we had more jb admins like you, the jb server wouldn't be a synonym for "shit", you were never reported, all of the players loved you, you were active and you didn't have the "meltdowns" that a lot of the other admins got.
You're probably the last jb admin that's worth a damn, so I'm sad to see you leave, but I understand that you're probably feeling betrayed by your fellow admins and it's understandable that you wanna quit.

It's been nice knowing that there was at least one jb admin who never stopped giving a damn. If the other jb admins have any decency they should give up their admin rights and just quit pulling everyone's legs, including yours.

With all that's stated above, I hope you understand that the jb server is probably gonna go to hell if you leave, but seeing as the admins don't give a damn and everyone else is just making fun out of it, it's probably for the best.

You did your best.

 

I've been running these months mainly by myself.
My batteries are drained at this point, I'm inactive and my final examns are coming up.

I really appreciate your response, you probably don't know how much it means to me.

 

Hard work or results isn't what you're supposed to look for,
it's attitude that you need to be aiming for.

You did give alot, good friend. And I understand your reasoning, but you shouldn't feel that you didn't win anything. Giving is a strange feeling.

Even though we don't play on the same servers it makes me sad to see you go. It looks like you did your job very well. Good luck with you exams!

 

I'll be staying on Deathrun and the forums after my examns for sure. And I'll try to expand somewhat towards the other servers, as I would like to play with people I don't know yet.

Too bad to see you go Starfish. I very well know why you want to stop as an admin on JB, because I had the very same reason. Back in my time I quit because it was hard to keep myself motivated for it and there were some other people waiting with their application to be approved since there were no admin slots left.

I hope you can find more fun in administering other servers here and to see you around ofc.

btw... what about the dutch FoG meeting?

 

Hey man, I gotta say you've gone un-noticed for two reasons by me.

1. I hate JB
2. I don't play JB

To put it bluntly, I can't appreciate someone supporting something I don't endorse.

Your time is duly noted though, thanks for attempting to keep that pit in some order, but as you pointed out; it's simply not possible to do by yourself, or in my own words, at all.

Ey, man. Look I understand it can be hard to think that you're not getting anything but the job itself is something wonderful, you help others out lots. I had the same, I was doubting meself for past four years, but I finally start to see that people actually appretiate that kind of stuff, man. I also know that it can be hard doing it all for yourself, as noone else gives you aid in your job but noone said you can't take breaks, man. Just type up on the inactivity thing that you won't be up for a bit or something. Anyway, I believe that we all understand your choice, man. Hope you'll find your peace atlast. Lot's of respect. <3

 

I never took breaks because I didn't need them.
This is the first time I will not be around, leaving stuff to other admins.
But the only time I need to take a goddamn break because my future depends on it, I still end up moderating because some admins do their jobs very poorly.
I already talked about this in my thread about admin immunity.
Then again I doubt any of the higher-ups will care, let alone respond on here.

Give me 2 weeks when my examns are over!
I will bump it and hopefully set a date.
