Pro-tip, buy a headset instead of a separate microphone, unless you already have a headset, in which case, buy a separate microphone. Just make sure you don't use a speaker/mic combo so you don't loop sounds.
Apologies for bringing back an old topic into the active world, but I would recommend the Logitech G930. It's a wonderful headset if you want a decent quality microphone and headphone combination. It's also wireless and has a nice battery time. It can be used on USB cable though (which is quite a good length).
