A question about TF2 (not FoG-related)

Okay, I'm new to the forums here, this is my first post. Please move this post if it doesn't belong here. I've chosen this forum to ask because I think this is a quite active community.

Everytime I try to play TF2, it says "Validating Steam Cache Files". It's really annoying as it takes some quite long time. This also prevents me from playing offline, so the "Training" section doesn't make sense for me.
Does that happen to you too? I've tried reinstalling but that didn't work.

this issue can be caused by multiple things try one of these (or all)
1 Go into your Program Files\Steam folder, and delete "ClientRegistry.blob." Then restart Steam.

2 In your Steam library, go to Team Fortress 2, Right Click->Properties
Go to the Local Files tab, and try these options
Verify integrity of game cache
De-fragment Game Files

3 hdd fragmentation defrag your hdd

 

I've tried 1, but TF is just updating, and since I don't want to abort that, I'll wait a sec

Exit steam MANUALLY every time you shout down. It works for me.
