After some weeks of work and several months of testing, I am proud to announce that our SourceTV-based autorecording system is now live!

    About
What it does is pretty simple - automatically starts and stops recording a SourceTV demo as long as players are online. Once the recording is done, the completed demo then gets uploaded to our web server, where everyone can download it.
SourceTV demos have an advantage over regular POV (in-client recorded) demos, so that they include ALL actions from ALL players, including chat/voice.

The system is active on all "adminable" servers (so all servers except TF2 MvM), including our US servers, but not DM/FFA (there still exists a bug where those servers are crashing randomly).

    The URL is: http://demos.f-o-g.eu

    Technical details
All demos are organized first in a directory with the id of the machine where the server recording the demos is located on, and on a second level, the ip port combination of the server itself.

Example: game2 > 176_57_141_141_27015 would contain all demos from Trade #2.

Then, each demo is named using the following pattern: <autorecord>_<date>-<length>.zip, where the parameters have the following meaning:
autorecord - always there, fixed string
date - the date/time the recording was started in the format dd_mm_yyyy_hh_mm_ss
length - the total demo length in seconds

    Example: autorecord_15_10_2017_18_30_25-900.zip would contain all events from 15.10.2017 18:30:25 to 15.10.2017 18:45:25.

    Notes
    • On our TF2 servers, demo recording is automatically restarted each 15 minutes, to avoid getting far too large/long demo files.
Our CS:GO servers only restart their recording upon mapchange. There still is a bug where, if recording is restarted during a map, the resulting demo would only replay at 10 fps.
    • (not really confirmed) Once a SourceTV server has been up for 1-2 weeks, the produced demos may become a bit choppy. Didn't experience it myself yet, however, it could easily happen.
    • Demos are automatically deleted after 10 days, unless an admin has linked it in a private note to a ban. This is required as to not fill up our hard drives too much (a full, 25 minute long demo on 1-2 takes about 150-300MB of space).
