Hey, just wanted to share one of my latest projects with you guys. A staged tier 2-3 map, 7-8 stages, with option to jump into the next stage like a linear feel (sorta like skyborn). The map was made to slowly higher the difficulty the further you get. And 1, maybe 2 hidden bonuses. Working a lot with the lighting and trying to smooth out the surfing when doing the map in one go. remove that walls on the left and right at the end of s4. Or make Black large windows into them. gives you otherwhise some claustrophobia compared to the rest of the map. Looks way better if it opens into the black.
That's not a bad idea. Will try it out and see what happens. Will probably have to be large black windows, else it will just look weird with that wall in the middle
Better! Give that wall you have to jump over also a glass part so you can see trough. And some sweet lamps hanging down on the sides over the windows. Lovely then
are the first 3 ramps on stage 5 intended to be that steep? I don't like steep ramps. staged map with telehops,eww don't get me wrong here. I like telehops. it's just the fact that staged maps with telehops are way harder to grind a decent time. so just me having some first world problems :^) anyways. looks really great so far
that was because the ramps were black and u couldnt see them..here its ok from the time that u are able to see the ramps imo its a nice map i agree with sey for the steep ramps (please dont ) and its overall a good map, looking closer to t2 from the preview that u gave us
No not at all, that stage is not near completed. Ramps will be adjusted when i finish the levels, i just put them there so they are ready and i can tell where I'm going (if that makes sense)
Another progress video. Somewhere along the last 2 stages (not shown in the video), the map compiler crashed. I found out that now, apparently there's a limit to how many lights you can add to your map, so i had to approach it differently. I'm still working on it, as you can see, the lighting is not entirely the same atm, but hopefully i can figure it out. (Music is just background shit from yt, no editing)
imho there are to many solid walls towards the end which makes it loosing the theme "darkness". Other than that I like the last stage maybe the turn after the first hole could need some more space or a ramp at the roof so you can push yourself down.
If you manage to hold the speed, you can hit the top/sides of the hole and be pushed down. Requires a little effort but it's not that hard. Will probably be the only stage falling a bit off theme, the next stages will stay outside mostly.
yeah that might work aswell. Shouldn't be a problem then for those who run it. Damn it's been a long time that I've been mapping I just dont feel like relearning all of that.
Alright, I'm done moving into my new house, and am now continuing working on this. Working a little with the light, not the biggest update. Also a sneak peak at the next stage, which is not done yet.
on 0:39 its a black ramp? if its like that just put some lasers at the top and bottom so we can see it..or with some light fixes it will be visible?
