Valve plans to add Escrow

Valve is planning to add Escrow as additional security method when confirming trades. It hasn't gone live yet but can happen soon.

This will cause problems for the traders which don't have a smartphone, don't use iOS or Android.

 

This is another one of those ''Making sure retards wont get scammed'' things.

As said by many others. The only solution is a common bloody sense. Volvo needs to realize that steam is full of gullible fuckwits.

I dont want to wait a few days just to use a bloody hat or taunt. I really dont. This wont solve much. Get your ideas together volvo.

 

This time could've gone into adding more quality control on Greenlight.

Worry not people, kids will still find a way to get scammed no matter how much Valve "secures" (fucks up) their trading system.

 

Does this mean i need to find new ways to scam kids? Well shit, back to the drawing board.

I can honestly and without doubt say that the majority of the people getting scammed are the younger generations.
Not saying these are the only ones, but adults would at least think twice before doing anything stupid.
And i guarantee that zero kids will find that post anywhere, or even be able to read it, since they haven't learned english properly.

 

there isn't much else valve can do except for revamping the trade system i think. one such thing would be having a scam report in-steam. hopefully that'll also give people a reason to not use paypal for trades.

 

Yeah but that's the thing, paypal is pretty much the only thing people can use that unite everything (credit cards etz.)
I guess I'm just angry that they make it more difficult for everybody. They should just permanent ban people who has been caught instead of just letting them buy a new game and begin scammin again. That would, at the very least, remove a huge majority of the scammers (i think..), or at least scare them and make them think twice before doing anything stupid.

 

People will never learn how to prevent it from succeeding (not at this rate), and these systems will only cause problems and delays for traders like me :/
They better create more awareness of the methods rather than making it tougher, so far nothing has worked really much in my opinion.

 

Delaying and delaying, hoping the slow and unattentive finally come around to witness their mistake - I can see where valve is coming from but not everyone wants to put a slow-ass authentication system (and unreliable in terms of losing or breaking a stupidly fragile device) on their account, including me.

Slowly pushing and pulling security gates is not community support, this is just making trading a super long-winded process for those who don't either have the ability or don't want the potential account lock-out due to possible future events.

There's only so much you can do for people until the people need to help themselves, I wouldn't blame Valve if their support went back to their slumber with a big fuck you on this topic.
