Implemented Surf: Improvement suggestions

Any chance we can get surf_wood on the server? chewy already said it's kinda buggy, is there any fix for that?

Edit: nevermind, just read about the teleport bug, better to just ignore this post I guess.

surf_1day is being shown as tier1, isn't it tier3?

I really liked the voting system without the tier-info behind the maps. We had such a good diversity in maps a few months ago, now there's more tier1 surfing than tier2/3 surfing lately :/

 

Yeah, there was an exploit that allowed you to skip half of the maps, theres no real fix for this, so we removed it.

Yes it is tier 3. There are a lot of wrong mapinfos, they will all be fixed in the next update, when @n0name got time again.

I totally agree here. Best solution imo would be, to show the tier when you nominate a map, but hide the tier during a vote. That way people know what they nominate but the vote doesnt get affected by that.

 

Best solution I've heard, sound like it would work. Also, maybe make commands like !rules and !admins silent like the rest.

 

If you use a / instead of a ! it should be silence either way.

Might make it so surf_spacejam bonus and surf_stonework2 bonus give only 3 points instead of 6 / 9? People are kinda grinding on them.

 

Need to change that in the mapinfo, they should both be labeled as tier 1. I will add this to my pending list of map fixes and it should be fixed very soon.

 

What's up with surf_fruits2 ? since we're prolly all annoyed by surf_fruits, this could bring in some fresh air.

haven't surfed it myself, but from it's look, it could be a t2 / t3 map?

 

Surf_fruits2 is already on the list of maps that will come with the next update, there will be about ~ 80-90 new maps.

just wanted to let you know that the reserved slots f***ed the server up (imo).

there is much you can do with donations (like the already implemented chat colours, or even add model skins, ...) but the reserved slots are just bullshit.
you cant even queue anymore because if there is a free slot you start joining the server and then get immediatly kicked for using a reserved slot, which leaves you to start again from the beginning with the exact same result.

Maybe u can somehow keep ur reserved slots but still manage to let ppl join automatically when a slot is free.

Still .... I gotta say I had a damn good time on the server with much fun and nice people.

I think what cold means, is that you cant enter a queue anymore. When you joined through server browser there was an option, join automatically when a slot is free, this option doesnt work anymore, cause it sees the free slot and wants to put you in, but the server kicks you because the slot is reserved. So the only way to join legitimately is refreshing until player count drops below 40 and then be the fastest. I could imagine that being annyoing

that's a bit too much drama to be honest.

My mates still connect fairly fast into the server whereas they're no donors. It never has been different with public servers and reserved slots, you can't just simply queue up, you gotta try multiple times to connect. Saying bye just because of this is simply biased and exaggerating. If you're pissed, wait for the other servers to come, there'll be space enough for anyone who's not that lazy to (atleast) try connect multiple times or just spam it.

 

1. The !hud option doesn't work properly. It show's a sidebar which doesn't exist, only the center bar exists.
2. Disable the !tutorial messages on the Top100 Server - there's no need I'd say

 

- Top100: people get kicked after change to surf_omnific_fix - Is the mapsize to big ?

 

Map size is ~87 MB, the max limit is set to 150 MB, so that shouldnt be the problem. Map worked fine while testing. Was there some error, or what exactly happened?

 

I don't remember the error message exactly, but it just said something like "the download was not able..." - we might test it again, but we all got disconnect (4 people)
