Implemented Surf: Improvement suggestions

Suggestion:
Remove or, better yet, fix surf_vegetables. Especially the last stage is unsurfable because it's completely cluttered up with "error boxes" and you have to mostly surf blind through it.



I actually really like this map from playing it in CS:S, so I'd love to see it get fixed (with bonus if possible )instead of completely removed.

 

Its not the server, its your version of the map. Go into your CSGO map folder and delete surf_vegetables. When you join the map again, it will redownload it and everything should be fine

 

Are you sure? I thought I downloaded the map for the first time when I joined the server a few days ago and some other guys seemed to confirm that these error boxes exist for them too, especially in the last stage. Plus, one guy said he knew the server owner and told him about this problem.

Anyway since I know this map quite well from surfing it a lot in CS:S I was actually able to finish the final stage after 15 minutes or so at which point everyone got teleported into jail, which would've been normal if this was a normal round-based match. This is still a problem.



There are many other people who finished this map so I already guessed that some people do have a proper version of this map.

 

Now after deleting the map when I try to connect it just waits for a minute and then goes "Connection failed after 10 retries". I've looked around but couldn't find a download for vegetables here on the forum. And with another download I found via Google I still can't connect to the map. Please help!

Edit: Still doesn't work and other people explicitly confirmed that the map is buggy and it's not just my version.

 

Reminder of current issues:

1. Higher endzones on following maps: (with higher i mean up to the ceiling)
-surf_the_gloaming_rat
-surf_dynasty
-surf_inspire

2. When you are in spectator mode your chat messages still show up twice.

3. A lot of people were asking for a "Show Keys" option, to see the pressed keys when spectating someone.

 

UPDATE

I collected some feedback from the community and also want to mention some other stuff:

1. Endzone surf_inspire: The new endzone is better but should be made higher (up to the ceiling).
Endzone surf_the_gloaming_rat: Go back to the old endzone and make it higher (up to the ceiling).

2. Sort the maplist, that shows up after you type !nominate alphabetical, so its easier to find maps.

3. Extend time should be increased from 10 to 15 min.

4. Wrong mapinfo on following maps:
-surf_happyhands2 ( its tier 3, not 1)
-surf_inspire( tier 2, not 1)

5. Sound Feedback for breaking the map record (A short sound that plays after someone beates the wr)

6. Maps people suggested:
-surf_furios (tier:2)
-surf_glass7 (tier:2)
-surf_glass9 (tier:2)
-surf_mesa_aether (tier:2)

Update:

surf_aweles needs a higher endzoen (up to the ceiling), same with surf_ing

surf_faint_fix should be removed, since there is a dumb bug that allows you to remove a trigger.

add a !hud option that hides your timer completely (only screen visible)

add a noclip command called !nc or !noclip that stops your timer and allows you to look through the map

The playerinfo is old and outdated, it needs a complete remake. I gonna post some example screens soon.

Surf_cyka can be found in the Steam workshop, by simply searching it

 

surf_colors_beta1 -> !stage, 9 doesn't work
surf_sunnyhappylove -> !r is buggy
surf_lament_n2p -> changing the start/spawn points after a fail (don't know if you can do this without changing the map version)
surf_utopia_v3 -> need a new map version where you can't get to the MG at the end
surf_coralis_ksf- -> need a new map version because the elevator doesn't work in this one like he should
surf_the_gloaming_rat-> !stage -> end is buggy because you stuck in the ground than
surf_newb_hazard_r1 -> got 2 endzones for some reason which I dont understand

Other suggestions:
1. A new style for !style -> HSW
2. Allow spectating players to use the !hide function
3. Updating the !playerinfo menu
-> 2. View Points/Rank isn't working
-> "View incomplete maps" and "View incomplete maps (bonus)" isn't working properly
-> add "View all Records (short)" and "View all WRs (short)" and "View incomplete maps (short)"
-> "View all records" and the other functions are saying there are 159 maps (but you can only nominate 102) so seems like there is something outdated aswell
4. don't know if that work but change the movement speed of pistols aswell to 250 (like knifes are) because some poeple like to surf with pistols but they lose the 10 speed at the beginning
5. some letters still won't display right in !top (makes a few names look ugly)

Sitting here trying get into the server with surf_christmas playing, after downloading to 100% it disconnects me and tells me I'm missing the map, right now the server is empty so I'm guessing it happens to everyone...

EDIT: Same thing now happening on surf_halloween

 

Go into your game folders and delete that file and connect again.

 

Why not compress them or remove some assets or something?

 

surf_liberation doesnt seem to work either, I have gotten stuck at "loading" both times I've seen it been played.

 

Some small fixes

Found some things that would ned a fix:


1. surf_exocube The version on the server is the wrong one. There is surf_exocube_h (h for hard) and the normal.
The version on the server atm is exocube_h which is a tier 5 map ^^. We would need the normal version here.


2. One map is missing that already got tested: surf_ember_sns


3. A few maps from the tier 3-6 should be ported to the 1-3:

-surf_liberation2 (tier 3)

4. There is a wrong mapinfo on surf_frequenzy. It is tier 3 not tier 1.


5. The bonus start zone on surf_ace_fix needs a fix. If you do !stage and then Bonus its all black.
