Something very annoying...

Hi guys,

I would like to make a suggestion to disallow something... This is very annoying for some players. In particular players that use the numbers 1-2-3-4 etc to switch weapons.

Some admins use a vote box (sm_msay) as I'd like to call it, to put their rules in. This causes me not able to switch my weapons while their rule box is up. It can make me die, because I'm not able to switch to my other weapon when I need to reload for example.

I hope you guys know what I mean...

I told that to some admins a few times, yes, it's really annoying.
csay /hsay > msay

 

Hmm, but this ensures that players notice it and thus notice the rules.

 

Can't you just use Scroll + Click?
It doesn't take that long to get used to it.

just use csay or how about typing in the normal chat, if some1 breaks 1 rule he should get warned for the rule he broke and not getting a list of all rules, it just makes it more irritating, people sometimes doesnt know what they do wrong.

Nope, it's my playstyle. And I'm not going to change that because of a rule box

Instead of changing your playstyle you can just press 0.
It's not that hard either.

people complained about a text in the middle of the screen, because it is "irritating" and this box is even worse.

 

You can just use fingers on your left hand, instead of moving your right hand from a mouse

I'm pretty sure that n0name wouldn't agree with this.

 

So your fingers have to leave WASD, aint any better.

It's influencing the gameplay by forcing the players to press 0.

I am strongly against this box and I really wish that people won't use it anymore, it annoyed/killed/distracted me often enough.

Okay Taco, from now on either your mouse or your WASD won't work for 2 seconds everytime I warn some1 on the server.

You can just press 0 like in 0,5 seconds.

The sm_msay box is still a good idea to post the rules. IMO

 

If you use hsay. People might not see it, then you kick them and they blame you for not warning etc.
I mainly use msay because this reason. You can't switch your weapons so you kinda force the players to take a quick glance at it.

@Taco Almost a deal doesnt exist, you said 2 seconds first, now suddenly 0.5, how come?
Doesnt matter, we can switch out the 2.0 with 0.5 if you want
What makes you saying "almost" a deal? If that isnt annoying for you it shouldnt be a problem at all.

 

The point still stands, it means that people will glance over and look at the rules, this ensures people know that there are rules and that they need to follow them, even if it means some innocent people die, I have tried other ways and msay is the most efficient! Some people don't notice hsay or csay!
