Probably because it's the 10th major Windows that's commercially avaible.
    But Idunno.
Windows 8 is bad. Windows 8.1 is badder.
    that's right you shit
Windows 10 looks okay if they don't mess up anything with weird updates. Using windows 7 still, has a laptop with 8. It's a family heirloom now as the worst thing I ever paid for. Which includes a Genuine Grandmaster.

My work laptop (lolIdontevenworkatm) runs win8, it's not great but it's not bad (for working).

I have Win7 on my gaming pc, though, hoping to upgrade to 10 when it's waaaay more supported.

A guide to using Windows 10:

    1: Press the start button.

While there is at least one metro button in the start menu:

-- 2: Right click on the first Metro button available

    -- 3: Unpin from start

    4: Enjoy!

Problem is the software support for older applications that were written in the Windows 95/98 age. To identify that windows version, windows has a string for the programs to look for called "Windows 9" or something, hence the skip of 9 to 10.
