For some reason, the best way for me to relief stress is to be weird and screw around, this is obviously really annoying. I see now. I am on vacation the next week and this one. So when i get home. I will make sure to do my best at not being an annoying piece of shit.

    Hi all,
I will start this thread to prevent further shitstorms so we can have an actual conversation.
This evening we started a discussion on the steam group FoG - Admins, after a small shitstorm in the shoutbox. We are not here about what happened that evening but about what we actually want to change to the community since we all got different ideas.

Some things that passed the chat are:
-Giving Downy more powers (aka co-owner like)
    -More forum moderators
-Make use of the report function on the forum
-A point based system of rating someones behaviour on the forum (unprobable because it needs a lot of work)
-Change the mindset of Admins (admins are a big example to the community, if they behave mature/properly the community will follow for the majority)

For this threads I am going to state a few clear rules and this thread is going to be monitored that it doesn't end up in a shitstorm.

What do I want to see here?
    -Constructive arguments
-Suggestions about what we should do
    -Constructive commentary about suggestions
    -Normal english language

What I don't want to see here?
-Flames, rants, trolls about a person or group in general in any form (none at all, your post will be deleted)
    -Memes
    -Talk in hashtag (like i cri everytiem, i r8 8/8 m8 etc.)
    -One line responses

I hope we can have a mature conversation in here and maybe we will find a solution.

    Sincerely,

    Chickpoint

There is a reputation system already integrated with the forums, its the star in the bottom left of your posts.
Also with forum mods, the forums aren't active enough for there to be more in all honesty, Downy and n0name handle the forums well enough as it is.
And also I dont think Downy will get more powers, I think n0name has given him all the powers he plans to for now.
Finally to change the mindset of the admins will be a lot of hard work, you can't force people to change and I doubt you'd want to replace any admins.

The reputation system has been abused though, I got some rep saying I was homophobic by saying "faget" or something like that in The Great Below.

Assuming everyone comes to a consensus agreeing with this, would it not be for the best to encourage this sort of behavior to stay in the Great Below or instead to also remove the Great Below so there's no shitposting in general.

How do we encourage members to follow these guidelines?

We talked about a warning system, which would basically work in a same way as our system with multiple bans work.

So spammers would be warned ---> temporarily silenced ---> banned.

Just to be clear I am not making the rules for the forum in general here but solely for this thread so it won't hand out in a shitstorm. But I can agree on the fact that the Great below shouldn't be there because it indeed encourages people to shitpost.

Getting rid of the great below is a great idea, because what was the point of it?
    A section for shitposters?

But guys we can't really call this a thing yet, can we?

That could probably work, although I assume it'll be easy to circumvent bans by using alternate accounts so that could pose an issue, assuming the forums don't use I.P bans.

Of Course, as the thread's title states this is mostly just suggestion-storming. I was just saying if we was to shun ironic shitposting which would be the better course for us to take regarding the Great Below.

Useing IP bans is an option if needed.

Not gonna be claiming that I am protecting the great below here or anything, but it was made because of that very reason.
Since some guys wanted to be able to post stupid stuff in it.
Now you want it gone? Make up your minds already!

I think those people would be a little saddened if it were to be removed, only logged in people can view the content anyway.
You could also just limit access to it even further.

But if you are really intent on removing it completely, go ahead I guess.

In an all, this post is merely to highlight another possible action done to a subforum that's used by some people who have fun with it.

best to keep a place where people can do their thing rather than deleting it and scattering those people everywhere.

I do want to ask if any of you guys think some of these Problems would be solved with more members?
We have like ~10 Members and how many admins now??
    Problems it might solve(?):
-Forum Mods become far more viable (no favoritism because lots of people yadayada)
    -Bigger community input.

Oh and what i noticed when i first joined was the absolute lack of People and generaly People shouting Stuff in the shoutbox which confused me.
Adding my 2cents here, correct me if im wrong.

I'd like to make a suggestion:

You know that massive amount of people we have in the steam group?

You know the considerably lower amount of forum members?

Have you ever noticed how many members there are online compared to GUESTS?

My suggestion is to post announcements on the steam group to SIGN UP on the forums. The message to come to the forums is there, now all we need are for people to sign up. Also I agree with everything Chicky said, so +1.

That'll probably happen much easier with the events, but yeah do it.

The point here is that we will not even encourage the slightest form of shitposting on the forums anymore. Once TGB is removed, the shitposters will have to restrain themselves from posting stupid shit. When they don't do that, they'll get a warning. If it happens again, say goodbye to the forums for maybe a week. Plus, if you're an admin and shitpost, you can get your powers removed. I'm just trying to say that you should make people think twice before they post stupid shit.
