An update to Team Fortress 2 has been released. The update will be applied automatically when you restart Team Fortress 2. So basically snipers can no longer jumpcancel. This really affects only sniper battles. It is not as a huge impact as the demo nerf was because demo doesn't tend to solo-duel other demomen but this certainly will change the dynamic in sniper battles.
Tbh, I tested "Snipers can no longer jump immediately after firing a scoped shot" and it doesn't makes much difference though. Yet, gonna be interesting to see how some gonna handle this
It doesn't seem THAT much of a nerf. You just gotta be more careful dueling other snipers since you have to go through the after-shot slow motion. AND you can still jump after a second or so.
Since sniper is my favorite class in the game, I find this nerf quite irritating. Not only does it make dodging bullets harder, the scope really obscures your vision when trying to fight scouts and such that are spinning around you like angry bees. That one second after the shot feels goddamn oppressive as you can't do shit in that time. When you've played as sniper a lot you can really feel the difference immediately.
That's how it's meant to be. A sniper needs to focus when taking his shot. Use the classic if you want to eradicate tunnel-vision.
its just weird in duells for me, snipers momentum and diversify is gone (I didn't use only jump, sometimes i crouch, some i do nothing and sometimes I jumped, so valve just took another option for me away...)
Wishing they kept that sticky ramp-up, or at least went back to tackle the issue of demos constantly sticky-spamming as if its their main weapon.
Yes, I know that you are not meant to do that, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing. Sniper is the most vulnerable class in the game, but with skill and proper timing, you could at least gain a little control over the situation. I just don't know what was the motive behind this kind of a nerf. Did someone at Valve rage because he couldn't take out a single good sniper? It's a bit annoying that Valve is giving more stuff to soldier and nerfing everything else. also i don't have the classic lol
