Implemented Admin Reserved Slots.

It starts with a normal day, you're watching something on Youtube, then suddently. You get a message from one of your friends saying "Taco, come on the server. There's F2Ps without strange weps in the idlers.

You then tell your friend that you're on your way.
You open tf2, you then join the server.
And then, dangit!
The server is full.

This is getting annoying if there's problems on that specific server.
Someone could be: Cursing towards other players, annoying players, Micspammers with Potato chip bag mics, squekers or something else.

Wouldn't that be annoying for the players?

 

It's all pro's and cons for this situation.


Granted, the effectiveness of the administration would be increased dramatically keeping the server even more calmer.

Yet, it would mislead people to think there's spaces when there is not, this also already gives them a VIP feature that should be restricted to VIPs.


I am going to stay neutral on this one and I would like to see the result.

 

It'd work like all our other servers for people with VIP benefits.

VIPs so called "reserved slots" is basically more like a guaranteed slot; it kicks a random player upon joining (ironically enough speaking about it, admins has been victims of that).

I support the idea and further; just share the same mechanic for admins.
Because I too dislike it when a server is misguiding and kicks you for joining just so you can read that it's "slot-reserved".

What reason is there to not do it? It would be limited like this:
I am for example an admin of Hightower, Trade and Dustbowl. These should be the only servers I gain the 'slot' guarantee access for and no other.

While the suggestion IS nice, the web master means it's not necessary.

 

ServerStatus exists for a reason, run it while you're waiting to join if you really need to ban someone

 

Well I support the idea,
And as Jozzeh said it could be limited to the servers you administrate only.
Admins should have more benefits like that since they are beyond all, bigger level than VIP's.
And mostly needed in situations as Speedy mentioned.

You do realise that if you type in connect [SERVER.IP] you join the server without any delays (only if you're vip/admin)?

 

Only vip, and not all admins are vips. I do agree with this, as with jailbreak you get reports about freekillers but you cannot always trust them as it could be that they felt they got freekilled and it was a misunderstanding and banning the person reported and it being a unfair ban would be unfair just so you can join the game.

 

I cant use ServerStatus, i get a constant error that i've tried to fix.

Use Sourcebans, it also got an option to kick people. Go to the servers tab and right click a name.

Oh, I didn't know that then.
Then I suggest adding that permission to admins too.
If not, then I agree with the topic's idea.

 

the thing is I actually spoke about this with the owner months ago and he just told me that only VIPs are allowed to do that or gathering enough points, so yeah. I think it is pretty stupid that we get the Reporter, but when the shit goes down, we have to wait and sometimes the guy is the one who frees the spot.

and additionally, I could use the web to ban him, but sometimes it's just spammers - spawncampers - or simply people yelling in the voice chat like dumbos. I won't ban instantly for that, not to mention I want to see it first

Sure we got some outside tools to deal with issues, but unless it's someone we can trust like our friends and such (who we know have no reason to fake a report) we'd wanna see it first to confirm.
