User is a moderator on backpack.tf and should have known better.

 

So let me explain how everything went wrong. It was a genuine careless mistake that I shouldn't have made

First, the trade with moysernary which involves the australium rocket launcher, I looked at his steam profile http://steamcommunity.com/id/Death_Skeleton/. (Level 15, 2519 trades, 88 games, 1993 hours in tf2) which looked very convincing and with enhanced steam on, it gave me a false sense of security since he wasn't marked on steamrep. Based on all those(Which i shouldn't have solely depended on them), i made a careless assumption that he was safe to trade and traded him my unusual private eye misty skull.

For the sale with ethika which involves the strange australium mini gun, ethika wasn't marked at the time and I was given the false sense that he got the items from a "friend" as he stated on his outpost trade. "good friend of mine gave em to meh " TF2 Outpost / Trade.

I looked at the "friend's" backpack and saw this

and looking at how the "friend" had traded for a long time and wasn't banned or marked, i thought that the minigun was a genuine gift from Furry fur lyfe which Furry fur lyfe obtained legitly using the items before the trade. I should have extended the backpack history graph further to find out the origin of those items in his backpack. That was a mistake on my part.

All these were a result of my insufficient research of the two traders. If i can assist in anyway to help you process this report as quickly as possible, let me know. I am more than willing to cooperate.

P.S. These trades were done before I was a mod. I hope that the community does not view the other mods on backpack.tf any differently as it is unfair to them and i apologize for having done these trades that I shouldn't have.

 

It's an easy mistake to make, to be lulled into a false sense of security when scammer alts are involved. It's the ones with good back stories and english skills who get you.

 

Just to add another point of why i thought that ethika was legit in the first place.

He had premium on bp.tf and also donated to the site. He also casted some votes as well but not active enough to be convincing. I wouldn't have thought an alt would have subscribed premium and donated.
